Notice to all providers of copyrighted material

SERVICE PROVIDER SHALL HOLD A CURRENT AND VALID PERFORMING RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS (PRO) LICENSE  

To ensure that songwriters, composers and publishers are rightfully paid for the use of their music, to maintain compliance with federal copyright law, and to avoid any copyright infringement/violation, every service provider who employs an entertainer, musician, artist or band or any individual service provider(s) who will perform any type of music, sing a song or play a tune at the Buckhannon Opera House shall hold and provide, prior to any public performance at the venue, a current valid copy of their Performing Rights Organization (PRO) license(s) and verify that all service fees include a public performance license(s) as bestowed from either the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), Broadcast Music, Inc (BMI), Society of European Stage Authors & Composers (SEASC), SoundExchange or Global Music Rights as applicable.

PAYMENT OPTIONS  

For ticketed events we will accept cash and all major credit cards. 

TICKET SERVICE FEES  

Our ticket prices do not include service fees, unless contractually obligated by the promoter of the event. 

NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES/LOST TICKETS  

All ticket sales are final. The only circumstance when a refund for tickets will be allowed is when the Buckhannon Opera House cancels the performance. If you misplace your tickets, please call us so that we can attempt to help you.   

FOG/HAZE/STROBE LIGHTS

Occasionally fog, haze and/or strobe lights may be used during some scenes in various performances by artists.  If you have a medically related concern about yourself or a member of your party concerning the use of fog, haze or strobe lights, please inquire ​prior to purchasing your ticket.  

PETS   

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed at the Buckhannon Opera House due to liability reasons; however, to lawfully comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service animals defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities will be permitted.

WHAT TYPE OF CANDLES CAN BE USED AT THE BUCKHANNON OPERA HOUSE?  

Candles may be used but they must be covered or enclosed with a hurricane shade or within a bowl, etc. Candelabras or Unity candles can be used during a wedding service, but the flames must be extinguished immediately thereafter.  

CAN RICE BE USED AT THE BUCKHANNON OPERA HOUSE?  

No rice, bird seed, confetti or similar material may be thrown, scattered or distributed in the Buckhannon Opera House or on Buckhannon Opera House property.  

WILL I NEED INSURANCE FOR MY EVENT?   

Yes, the Buckhannon Opera House does require a certificate of liability in the amount of $300,000. Normally, this is obtained for a 24-hour period by your Homeowners or Renters insurance agent. The Buckhannon Opera House does have an insurance agent who will underwrite the necessary insurance requirements if you choose to use our agent.  

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY  

The Buckhannon Opera House will not issue refunds to patrons who chose not to attend a performance or event due to bad weather. When in doubt, call to confirm a performance. Also, please check our Facebook page.  

WILL THE BUCKHANNON OPERA HOUSE STAFF DECORATE FOR MY EVENT?   

No, you are responsible for decorating the hall for your event. We will assist you when possible, but we do not provide decorating services. Referrals for a professional decorator can be provided upon request. When decorating, we ask you comply with our rules and policies as noted in your contract. You will be responsible for any damage occurring during your event to the building, equipment or premises.  

WHAT DECORATING MATERIALS CAN BE USED?    

All decorative materials must be non-combustible or flame resistant in accordance with NFPA 701. Decorative materials are defined as curtains, draperies, streamers, fabrics, cotton batting, straw, hay, vines, leaves, stalks, trees and moss, including surface covering applied over interior finishes for acoustical or decorative purposes.  

LATE SEATING  

Late seating of patrons is often disruptive to audience members seated on a timely basis. Therefore, patrons arriving late for a performance may be required to stand or sit in a pre-designated area of the theater until intermission or until an appropriate break allow seating without disruption to the performance and our patron.  

ADA SEATING  

Please tell us your seating needs when ordering tickets for reserved seating shows.  

AUDIO DEVICES  

Currently we do not have audio devices to loan out for movies and live events 

NO SMOKING  

Local ordinance prohibits and bans smoking in all public buildings. There is no smoking in the Buckhannon Opera House. This includes e-cigarettes and vaporizers. Patrons caught smoking will be asked to leave the building.  

PHOTOGRAPHY, SOUND RECORDING AND VIDEO  

Photography, video and sound recording are not allowed at any show or performance without the consent of the promoter. 

Policies vary by event and are determined solely at the discretion of the show and are subject to change. Unauthorized or prohibited photography of an event may result in film or videotape being confiscated by show representatives. Each show owns the rights to performances and images of their production. In all cases, the resale of photography or video is strictly prohibited. 

NO OUTSIDE FOOD AND DRINK  

You may bring empty water containers to fill at our water fountain.  

CELL PHONES AND MOBILE DEVICES  

All cell phones and electronic devices must be silenced or turned off during all events and live performances. If you need to make or take a call, please do so in our lobby or foyer or you can easily step outside.
